Friday Catch Up No. 6
Spring has sprung, the city is alive, and let’s throw a prayer up that winter is over!
Spring has sprung, the city is alive, and let’s throw a prayer up that winter is over!
I had a rough day yesterday, starting with a work call that woke me up at 2 am, which set off a downward spiral from there. By 6:30pm I felt like I had been hit by a bus, and I wanted to crawl into bed right then & there. But I looked out the window and could tell it was that night. That night after weeks of unpredictable, cold, rainy weather, where the sun has finally come out, you can shed the jacket, and all of NYC is outside. I put on my workout clothes and took a stroll through West Village and along the West Side Highway, and if that isn’t therapy I don’t know what it is. The ENERGY of the city! This is what makes me appreciate seasons and the joy that each one brings.
I celebrated Masters Sunday by attending a cool event at Terroir called “Masters of Wine”. We drank 18 holes worth of wine, ate pimento cheese sandwiches, took our swing at the putting hole, and had a grand old time!
Tonight we are going to the newly reopened (officially as of last night!) The Frick and having a little UES girls night. The weekend looks GLORIOUS ahead, and I cannot wait to be out and about in the sunshine & warmth!
Inspired by one of my new favorite Substacks, Corner Booth by Courtney (truly cannot share her guide to a fun GNO enough), I wanted to share a few of my own favorite recent combos for either a date night or catch-up with a friend:
CLINTON HILL - pre-dinner drink at Entre Nous, dinner at Place des Fêtes, nightcap at Mayflower
GREENPOINT/WILLIAMSBURG - brunch at Le Crocodile, ice cream at Caffe Panna, drink at Milk & Roses (with a lovely long stroll between each)
UPPER EAST SIDE - drink at Bemelman’s or Casa Tua, dinner at JG Melon or The Mark, piano bar fun at Melody’s
WEST VILLAGE - pre-dinner drink at St Jardim, dinner at Zimmi’s, nightcap at Angel’s Share
Also a couple of fun girls’ nights out…
MEATPACKING (& a little WV) - rooftop drink at RH Rooftop, dinner at Pastis, nightcap & flirting at the bar at Do Not Disturb
SOHO - dinner at Felix (if it’s your birthday, you can make it a party), drinks upstairs at Little Ways, dancing at either Soho Grand or Submercer
TRIBECA (my friend Xan’s idea we are doing ASAP) - drink at Smith & Mills, dinner at The Odeon, jazz at The Django at The Roxy
the above Tribeca night out included dinner at MR CHOW & drinks at Little More
